Mildura Rural City Council has taken to social media to say that it was great to see so many of our newly arrived residents turn out Friday for the Welcome Expo at Mildura Powerhouse.
The Expo was a chance for refugees, migrants, people seeking asylum, PALM Scheme workers, international students, and others settling into the region to meet local services, build relationships, and feel part of our vibrant community.
Mayor Ali Cupper and Deputy Mayor Helen Healy also attended to offer a warm welcome.
This year’s Expo also celebrated World Refugee Day and the 2026 theme, “A Million Stories,” honouring the incredible milestone of 1 million humanitarian visas granted in Australia since 1947.
