A firefighting aircraft has crashed west of Ouyen.
The single-engine aircraft was leaving Linga Airfield around 5:30 yesterday afternoon, when it landed heavily in a nearby paddock sparking a large fast-moving grassfire.
The pilot has non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Aviation Safety Network the aircraft has been deemed a write-off.
Meanwhile the Mallee is going through its second straight day of a total fire ban.
The fire danger rating for the Mallee is listed as extreme, with Mildura tipped to head for a top of 38 again.
The CFA says today’s conditions will make it harder to control or stop any fires that may break out.
An advice was issued for a bushfire yesterday near Patchewollock.
