Kevin Willersdorf has been recognised for his volunteer within the Murrayville community, named Mildura’s Citizen of the Year.
Mildura Rural City Council announced its winners during an Australia Day breakfast last Friday, with Jackson Mugenzi Young Citizen for becoming a role model within the community since arriving in Mildura from Rhwanda in 2018.
The AMES Multicultural Cup Soccer Tournament was named Event or Project of the Year.
Merbein’s Senior Citizen of the Year was named as Shirley Sylvia and Citizen of the Year went to Ian Farnsworth.
Irymple Citizens of the Year went to Maxine Marshall and Davis Searle for their work in the community.
Ross Cleeland was named Swan Hill’s Citizen of the Year, with Young Citizen going to Shannon Polglase.
Wentworth Shire Council has welcomed four new citizens to Australia and announced the Australia Day Award winners at their Ceremony held at the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club in Dareton on Thursday night.
Robert (Rob) Verstappen was named the 2024 Citizen of the Year for Wentworth Shire Council.
Other award winners on the night included Logan Witte (Young Citizen of the Year) and Adel Green (Young Sportsperson of the Year).
Mayor Daniel Linklater also conferred citizenship on Mrs Kunnika Powel, Mr Rajbir Singh, Mr Daryl Thomsen and Mrs Joanna Vujevich.
