Swan Hill Rural City councillors are meeting this week to discuss visits to sister cities.
The unscheduled meeting follows concerns raised by Mildura MP Jade Benham on the council approving travel by Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Cr Stuart King to Japan but NOT to France in April.
There would reportedly be no extra cost to Swan Hill Rural City Council ratepayers for that trip.
In 1980 Swan Hill commenced a sister city relationship with Yamagata, Japan, and Robinvale officially became the twin-town of Villers-Bretonneux in France in 1985.
Councillors will vote on whether to authorise the mayor to head to Villers-Bretonneux this year.
The meeting is being held tomorrow afternoon.
