The ‘You Light It, You Own It’ campaign reminds people to consider the consequences of their actions to avoid reckless or accidental fires this summer.
The campaign is asking the community to consider the following points:
Reckless and accidental fires risk lives and homes.
Your fire is your responsibility.
If you start a bushfire, you can spend up to 15 years in jail.
Spark sources: machinery and tools – not just matches.
Fire risk increases on hot or windy days.
If you are not taking appropriate precautions around fire, you will face the consequences and penalties.
