VFF welcomes tax ruling

A farming lobby group has welcomed news vacant farmhouses will not be subjected to a vacant residential land tax.

The Victorian Government has clarified the tax WON’T be applied to houses on primary production land, but could still apply to other properties used by businesses for worker accommodation.

The Victorian Farmers Federation says circumstances in regional areas such as Sunraysia, where producers have homes for seasonal workers, are different to Melbourne, and that using the tax on these properties would be completely unfair.
