Mildura’s Cam Waters’ record of three podium finishes at the Bathurst 1000 has come to an end.
He and Co-driver James Moffat did not finish the race over the weekend after their Mustang crashed at the dipper on lap 69.
It ended a disappointing race for Waters who had earlier lamented the speed of the car against the pace of the race winning Chevys.
Shane van Gisbergen/Richie Stanaway in the Triple Eight Chevrolet took out the race with Brodie Kostecki/David Russell in the Erebus Chevrolet second and Anton de Pasquale/Tony d’Alberto in the Dick Johnson Racing Ford in third. )
It was the 34 year’s third victory in four years.
Van Gisbergen will head to the United States at season’s end to drive full-time in NASCAR.
