There’s been no detection of Varroa Mite in Victoria, but locals and the industry are being urged to remain vigilant to keep the parasite out of the state.
There’ve been detections in hives at Euston and Balranald in the past month with a 10 to 25 kilometre surveillance emergency zone in place around those sites, part of that extending into Victoria.
New permits were issued earlier this month allowing bee keepers in Victoria and within the zones to move hives and equipment.
