Backflip on history funding

Victoria’s National Party has fought for the return of the Community History Awards and Local History Grants Program.

Mildura MP Jade Benham says the funding’s critical to grow and digitise archives and support volunteer historical societies.

She says the program’s been running for 21-years and a petition tabled in parliament has forced the government to backflip on funding cuts, and that community organisations within her electorate can apply for grants of up to 15-thousand dollars to preserve and share materials and memories that make up the state’s history.
