Ahead of the tentatively titled Fast X: Part 2, which is the 11th installment in the franchise and set to hit theaters in April 2027, Vin Diesel has shared exciting details about what fans can expect from the high-octane blockbuster.

Diesel revealed that there was three key conditions for the film being made.

One was to bring the story back to its roots in Los Angeles. Another was to reignite the franchise’s focus on car culture and street racing, elements that originally defined the Fast & Furious saga.

And the third and final condition which is Diesel’s most bold and controversial demand was the reunion of Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner. “That is what you’re going to get in the finale,” the actor revealed.

Throughout the franchise, Diesel has famously portrayed Dominic “Dom” Toretto, while the late Paul Walker brought Brian O’Conner to life. Tragically, Walker passed away in a car accident in 2013 while in the midst of reprising his role for the seventh film.

The prospect of bringing Brian O’Conner back has sparked mixed reactions among fans and critics. While some see it as a fitting tribute to Walker’s legacy, others are skeptical about reviving the beloved character.

One user wrote “Whatever happened to letting people Rest in Peace!?”

Another saying “Capitalism happened.” Hinting at the franchise is only bringing back the character to cash in on people’s emotions.

While another user wrote that “it could work if done respectfully to the character or if it’s a tribute to the actor.”

And another said that the “Return of O’Connor the 1 reason I’ll probably watch… O’Connor was always the Best character”.

There’s still no confirmation on how much of a role Brian O’Conner will play in the 11th and reportedly final film of the series, or how his presence will be handled following Paul Walker’s passing. Whether Brian’s reunion with Dom will serve as a central plot point or remain a smaller side story remains uncertain. The studio has yet to reveal any details about how they plan to reintroduce Walker’s character be it through CGI, special effects, or perhaps even a flashback. For now, fans can only speculate.
