The New South Wales Regional Leakage Reduction Program is being extended to Wentworth Shire.
Phase two of the project in the township will determine where pipes, meters and valves need to be fixed.
Nearly two-hundred kilometres of mains across the council areas will be covered in the work, which is expected to cost just over 32-thousand dollars.
Council says it’s a big win for locals, saving money each year in pumping and treatment costs, saying fixing the leaky pipes will save water, money and improve reliability.
The government says more than four-point-seven billion litres of water has already been detected leaking from network infrastructure across the state each year.
