Vic and NSW Police join forces over theft

Offenders who believe they can cross the border to avoid arrest are being warned they will be caught.

Mildura and Dareton police are working together as they deal with a rise in car thefts and burglaries.

They’ve had at least seven car thefts in a week with offenders crossing the border.

Mildura detectives have told the Sunraysia Daily that crime is returning to pre-pandemic levels, but they’re putting more resources into finding those responsible.

Police say opportunistic thieves are often checking door handles until they come across unlocked vehicles.

Officers are also encouraging residents to make sure their homes are secured.
