A Farming lobby group is wanting answers on why the Victorian Government is NOT helping local councils impacted by last year’s floods.
The Victorian Farmers Federation has written to Premier Daniel Andrews on the government’s decision not to take up fast-tracked funding from the Federal Disaster Relief Funding Arrangements.
The group says farmers and councils are frustrated with the lack of action on fixing damaged roads.
Mildura and Swan hill councils are among the local government areas heavily hit by last year’s flood event.
VFF President Emma Germano says “The VFF has held discussions with representatives from local government across northern Victoria who are desperately concerned by the lack of support being provided to them to fix critical infrastructure, such as the regional road network.”
“The Victorian Government’s inability to provide funding to these councils will only further hamper and delay recovery.”
