Speed limit change near MSP

June 23, 2023 9:26 am in by

The speed limit on a section of the Sturt Highway has dropped from 80 to 60 kilometres per hour.

Regional Roads Victoria is extending the 60 kilometre limit on the highway to finish just north of the Seventeenth Street roundabout.

It says it’s due to more traffic from the Mildura Sporting Precinct and subdivisions in the areas which have created new side streets with direct access to the highway.

The Transport and Planning’s Department’s Regional Director for the Loddon Mallee, Alicia Yap, said a safer lower limit was required on the busy section of road.

“We’re extending the 60km/h speed zone along the Sturt Highway between Sixteenth Street and Seventeen Street to improve safety for all road users,” Ms Yap said.

“We urge drivers to pay attention and follow the new speed limit for their own safety and the safety of other road users.”
