Mildura is welcoming the return of officials from its Sister City of Kumatori for the first time in seven years.
Mayor Liam Wood says he’s looking forward to meeting the leaders and students from Japan, who arrived in Sunraysia on the weekend.
Cr Wood says the pandemic has meant it’s been difficult for routine links between the two towns to occur until now.
Mildura’s Sister City relationship with Kumatori dates back to 1984 and involves regular reciprocating education and cultural visits between the two cities.
This year’s Kumatori delegation have a week-long schedule of engagements, including visits to Chaffey Secondary College, important local history sites and Murray-Sunset and Hattah-Kulkyne National Parks.
The delegation will also tour major project sites including the Powerhouse Precinct, as well as visit several local businesses representing a range of industries from horticulture through to hospitality, concluding on Saturday.
