Crumbling roads are again on the agenda, with local Nationals MP Jade Benham blaming the State Government’s financial mismanagement for a lack of road funding.
Ms Benham says local roads continue to deteriorate and is concerned about no commitment to the Victorian Road Resurfacing Program this financial year
The local MP says “We no longer drive on the left side of the road, we drive on what’s left of them.”
Shadow Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Danny O’Brien, said a 45 per cent cut to the roads maintenance budget since 2020, including a further 25 per cent cut in this year’s budget was hurting Victorian motorists.
“The fact no contracts for road resurfacing have gone to tender this year is alarming for all Victorians. Without a resurfacing and resealing program, the deterioration of our roads will only accelerate,” Ms Benham said.
