New data has found hundreds of dogs and cats were impounded in Mildura last financial year, with many of the animals never claimed.
Mildura Rural City Council’s Domestic Animal Management Plan has shown well-over 15 hundred dogs and cats were impounded, with only 68 cats eventually claimed by owners.

That is only 10 percent of the 680 cats impounded, down from 87 claimed cats from last financial years 721 impounded cats.
That’s nearly half of the total cat population of Mildura.
