New figures show people are more likely to die from drugs used to treat stress, such as Xanax or Valium, than they are from illicit substances or alcohol.
Mildura recorded twenty-five unintentional overdose deaths in the five years to 2021, compared to 14 the previous years, and seven between 2007 and 2011.
The Penington Institute says there’s an overdose crisis that needs urgent policy reform.
