A Cultural Day will be held next month to mark NAIDOC Week.
This year’s theme is “For Our Elders””, celebrating local indigenous elders in the region.
Aboriginal Community Development Officer Peter Matsumoto says the city is working with the Ngiwa Yarna group.
The Cultural Day, which will be held on Wednesday 5 July from 10am to 2pm in the Langtree Mall, will feature facilitated workshops and activities organised and run by members of our Aboriginal community aimed at children and local families.
“Our Elders play an important role and hold a prominent place in our community,” Ngiwa Yarna Chair Patsy Doolan said.
“They are cultural knowledge holders, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders and our loved ones.
