Mildura Rural City Council is trying to reduce its carbon footprint, encouraging locals to have their rates sent out by email instead of paper.
Just over ten-per cent of the 31-thousand rates notices are sent electronically, and the council is hoping to double that number this year.
The city is hoping to encourage more people to switch over, offering the chance to get up to two-thousand dollars off their rates bill by ditching the paper-based notice.
