MP says visa issues are making regional healthcare issue worse

Nationals MP Anne Webster says the Federal Labor Government is exacerbating the regional healthcare workforce crises due to its visa oversight.

The Member for Mallee says skilled migrants who apply to work in the regions are waiting more than two-years for a Skilled Regional Visa, while those who apply for different types of skilled shortage visas are getting fast-tracked, with applications in as little as 25 days.

She says regional areas are crying out for workers but they’ve been inadvertently left in the cold, and that nurses in our hospitals are pulling double shifts just to ensure patients in our emergency departments are able to be cared for.
