A multi-million dollar instrument landing system at Mildura Airport is now working.
It’s designed to improve safety and reduce flight delays during bad weather including foggy conditions and heavy rain.
It was officially opened in November last year, but the installation is now commissioned and fully operational.
The ILS, funded by $2 million from the previous Federal Government, $1 million from Mildura Rural City Council and $1 million from the airport itself, is expected to greatly increase aviation safety for users of the airport.
Mildura Airport Pty Ltd CEO Trevor Willcock was excited the ILS was now fully functional after the hard work of the Mildura Airport Operations team over the past three years of planning and installation.
