An emergency warning for areas of Mildura, Bruces Bend and Nichols Point has been lifted, with an advice now in place.
The advice was issued late yesterday afternoon, with authorities saying it is now safe for residents to return, but they are still warning of hazards in the area including debris and damaged roads.
A Flood Watch and Act is in place for Pooncarie and surrounds, Burtundy, Pomona, Ellerslie & Great Darling Anabranch flooding – Do not enter floodwater
The NSW SES advising people in the following areas NOT TO ENTER FLOODWATER due to current widespread moderate flooding:
- Pooncarie and surrounds
- Burtundy and surrounds
- Pomona
- Ellerslie
- Great Darling Anabranch
- Local roads, causeways, culverts and bridges will close due to flooding
- Some rural properties may become isolated by floodwaters
You should monitor the situation as it is constantly changing. Avoid floodwater for your safety.
Locals are also still being warned of mozzies in the area, following the detection of Murray Valley Encephalitis in Mildura.
