Mildura’s budget for the next financial year has been officially endorsed.
In a small win for locals facing cost of living pressures, the rate increase has been reduced from three and a half per cent to three per cent.
The council says it’s about providing relief to ratepayers without impacting the city’s obligation to deliver a responsible budget that meets community needs.

The Budget includes services for the community including:
- Supporting more than 1,000 children to enrol in local kindergartens
- Delivering about 215,000 hours of childcare through the Family Day Care Service and Play-along Early Learning Centre
- Administering more than 13,800 immunisations
- Collection of 54,000 kerbside bins each week
Other key features of the Budget include a $41.5 million capital works program including:
- $12.43 million on buildings and building improvements
- $8.73 million on roads
- $6.93 million on drainage
- $3.22 million on parks, open spaces and streetscapes
- $1.76 million on recreation, leisure and community facilities.
