The Shadow Water Minister has welcomed Labor’s announcement that it will consider extending Murray Darling Basin Plan deadlines.
Senator Perin Davey says the news is welcome despite being 18 months late.
Ms Davey says despite many ideas being submitted for the basin plan, there is none that can be delivered within 12 months so it is necessary to extend the deadlines.

Federal Water Minister Tanya Plibersek says the $13 billion Murray-Darling Basin Plan is “off track” and needs a “course correction”.
The water minister has requested Murray-Darling Basin Authority advice on likelihood of achieving water recovery targets.
