With news that both the Westpac and ANZ are closing their Robinvale branches there are calls for the sector to place a temporary moratorium on closures.
Member for Mallee Anne Webster says banks haven’t provided any impact assessments before the closures.
She’s worried the banks are closing branches before the Regional Banking Taskforce’s recommendations are in place.

Dr Webster brought the Australian Banking Association (ABA) to Mallee in 2022 for a public forum hosted by the taskforce, with the ABA endorsing the subsequent recommendations put to them.
