Branders Rule has taken out the 15-thousand dollar Mallee Cup at the Mildura Racing Club’s Melbourne Cup meet.
It was the horse’s first win under trainer Cindy Brander.
Locals also enjoyed festivities off the track during the day.

The horses weren’t racing at Wentworth due to concerns about safety on the dirt track, but that didn’t stop locals turning out to enjoy the day.
Meanwhile a seven-race meet is being held in Swan Hill on Friday.
Racing Victoria’s scheduled the additional meet due to several races being abandoned due to the heavy rain and floods across Victoria.
Nominations closed yesterday with acceptances to be held this morning.
