Local flooding update

Authorities are warning of possible major flooding at Swan Hill and Wakool Junction.

The Murray River may reach four-point-eight metres over the weekend, with the river to hit eight-point-nine metres at Boundary Bend early next week with moderate flooding.

Mildura Weir is expected to exceed the minor flood level next week and further rises are possible.

Moderate flooding is also happening along the Darling River at Menindee with minor flooding at Pooncarie.

The river is likely to increase to nine-point-four metres this week with moderate flooding at Menindee.

A PREPARE TO EVACUATE warning’s been issued for low lying properties along the river in the township.

The NSW SES is advising people to stay informed about the predicted widespread minor flooding, with moderate flooding likely to continue at Menindee into December.

Pooncarie may reach seven-point-four metres later this week.

 

Meanwhile Mildura’s Hugh King Drive has been closed due to water over the road between Cureton Avenue and the off-leash dog park.

Mildura Council says the recent rain is also continuing to impact the local landfill site.

Access points to the green waste pile and tip face areas are again closed until further notice.

Mildura residents are still being urged to take care with water over some local roads.
