Authorities are warning there could be major flooding from the Murray at Boundary Bend, Mildura and Wentworth over coming weeks into December.
Mildura Weir is expected to top the minor flood level next week, and may reach the major flood level in the first week of December.
The river at Swan Hill and Boundary Bend is forecast to pass the major flood level next week with further rises possible, Euston and Mildura are expected to exceed their minor flooding marks early next week, and Wentworth is expected to pass the moderate food point early next week.
Locals are being urged to prepare for flooding.
Emergency services say they’re focussed on assessing and reinforcing existing levees, protecting isolated assets as well as providing relief to local communities.
Meanwhile, Mildura Rural City Council will be holding a community meeting on Sunday for locals wanting more information about the rising river levels.
Those who may be impacted by the rising Murray River or are worried about the situation are being encouraged to attend or watch the live stream on the council’s Facebook page.
The city says SES and other agencies will be at the meeting on Sunday afternoon at the Mildura Sporting Precinct.
