Local flood update

A Watch and Act remains in place for the Murray between Swan Hill and Mildura.

Authorities say moderate flooding is happening at Wentworth, Swan Hill and Boundary Bend, and major flooding is possible at Swan Hill this week.

Locals are again urged to avoid floodwaters and be aware of potential hazards caused by the rising river levels.

And there’s also a warning for a high number of snakes active in the flooded areas that may be looking for shelter and food.

Meanwhile, several drop in sessions are being held today across the region allowing locals to find out more about the flood situation along the Murray.

Staff will be available at the Robinvale Resource Centre between 11:00am and 3:00pm to support those impacted by floods.

Also a community drop in session is being held in Merbein at the Community Hub this afternoon from 4:00 to 5:30, and a Lindsay Point drop in CMA session at 1:00pm at the Crackling Plant. 

Other sessions are planned including Wentworth, Sunday, anytime between 9:00am and 11:00am at the Wentworth Town Hall, Buronga/Gol Gol Sunday, anytime between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Midway Community Centre, Nichols Point, Monday, 4:00pm-5.30 pm, Nichols Point Primary School and Red Cliffs Tuesday, 3:00pm-5:00pm , Red Cliffs Library
