Local flood update

With Apex Park closed to floodwaters, locals are being reminded NOT to swim in flooded areas or flooding river systems.

Authorities say currents and underwater hazards can be dangerous for anyone diving in, while the water could also be contaminated.

Locals are being urged to stay safe by avoiding flooded areas where they can, and to not drive on Closed Roads.

Emergency Warning – Not Safe to Return

Parts of Mildura, Nichols Point and Bruces Bend including Etiwanda Avenue Extension, Benetook Avenue Extension, Cowra Avenue and Cureton Avenue East. Nichols Point, Bruces Bend and surrounding areas including River Boulevard, Park Road, Park Lane, Loop Road, Billabong Road, Pate Street, Irymple Avenue Extension, First Street and Keating Avenue.

It is also not safe to return to: Karadoc on the riverside of Cootamundra Ave and the lower reaches of Edey Rd near the river and Iraak.

Water is flowing into the low lying areas around the Yelta Grain Corp facility.

Residents on Hoyle Road are impacted, and the Northern end of Meridian Road is closed. 

A heavy vehicle truck detour has been activated to enable access via Paschendale Avenue & Fifth Street.

Communities close to the Murray River between Colignan, Nangiloc and north to Lambert Island, and Boeill Creek.

Liparoo to the South Australian border.

Murray River:

At Euston the level may remain through to late December, with moderate flooding.

At Mildura Weir the river level may peak around 14-16 December. A prolonged peak is possible through to late December, with moderate flooding.

At Wentworth the river may peak around 17-19 December. A prolonged peak is possible through to early January, with major flooding.

Darling River:

At Menindee Town the river level is currently steady, with moderate flooding. The Darling River at Menindee Town is likely to remain around the current level until at least mid-January, with moderate flooding.

At Pooncarie the river may peak in the next couple of days, with minor flooding.

At Burtundy the river may peak around late December.
