Further calls to halt bank closures

Other major banks are again being called on to follow the Commonwealth’s lead and delay closing branches until a parliamentary inquiry has been held.

Westpac has advised the Finance Sector Union it’s planning to close 20 branches, including the one in Robinvale.

Nicole McPherson from the union says that’s devastating for the local town.

The Robinvale community has also been told that the local ANZ branch is to also close in the town.

Both outlets are due to shut in May.
