Flooding update – parts of Mildura to evacuate

Parts of Mildura are under an emergency warning.

Locals in areas including Etiwanda Avenue Extension, Benetook Avenue Extension, Cowra Avenue Extension and Cureton Avenue East. Nichols Point, Bruces Bend and surrounding areas including River Boulevard, Park Road, Park Lane, Loop Road, Billabong Road, Pate Street, Irymple Avenue Extension, First Street and Keating Avenue. If you live, work or are holidaying in this area, you should Evacuate Immediately

Some homes will be surrounded by floodwaters or start to flood into homes and sheds.

Residents are being urged to travel to a safe location including the relief centre at the Alfred Deakin Centre.

A relief centre is up and running at the Alfred Deakin Centre in Mildura for locals who need to evacuate from their homes due to the flood situation.

There are also several watch and act messages in place along the Murray including Not Safe to Return – Karadoc – the river side of Cootamundra Ave and the lower reaches of Edey Rd near the Murray River, and Iraak Island, and Boeill Creek flooding – Prepare to evacuate.

Locals around Euston are preparing for the Murray River to peak this weekend.

The river is still expected to peak at Mildura Weir in early December, while it may reach the major flood level at Wentworth in coming weeks.
