July 27, 2023 6:34 am in by

Recreational fishers and boaters in Sunraysia will join counterparts from all corners of the state, having the chance to discuss their much-loved pastimes and share ideas to make fishing even better at a series of free Fishing and Boating Forums.

These forums, hosted by local fishing clubs, have become an annual tradition, with this year marking the third consecutive instalment.

The forums will feature presentations from Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) and Better Boating Victoria (BBV) staff on the latest in fishing and boating, including updates on the positive impact the Victorian Government’s $96 million package to improve fishing, boating, piers and aquaculture is making in each local area.

The first of the 12 forums will be held in Mildura next Thursday.

A further 11 forums will take place between 22 August and 20 September in Kyabram, Wangaratta, Shepparton, Albert Park, Mitcham, Charlton, Ballarat, Horsham, Warrnambool, Leongatha and Nicholson.

Topics will be tailored to each region, including local initiatives from the Go Fishing Victoria plan, upgrades as part of the state’s biggest ever boat ramp construction program being led by BBV, the vital work of Fisheries Officers and research insights from fisheries scientists into iconic fish like Murray cod and yellowtail kingfish.

The Mildura event is next Thursday, August 2rd, 7:00pm – 9pm, hosted by the Nangiloc Angling Club at Café 1909 @ 143 Hugh King Drive Mildura.

Each forum is free, and no booking is required.
