Native fish, yabbies and freshwater catfish have been moved from irrigation channels at Red Cliffs and moved to Kings Billabong.
Lower Murray Water says it’s part of preparing for the channel lining works under the Sunraysia Water Efficiency Project (SWEP). The project is expected to generate up to 2.5 GL of water savings.
It says Oz Fish Unlimited volunteers have been working to rescue the native fish while also removing more than thirteen-hundred carp from the channel network.
