As local producers get ready for the upcoming harvest, they’re being urged to make sure they take extra measures to protect themselves from any fires.
Gavin Wright from the CFA says there’s been increased fire risk as the vegetation dries out from recent rain.
The most common cause of harvester fires is material collecting on hot engine components such as the manifold, exhaust and turbocharger.
During paddock operations it is recommended to have the appropriate firefighting equipment in place.
You’re required by law, to have a 9-litre water pressured extinguisher on hand.
