Mildura MP Jade Benham has met with Charlton residents about the Victoria to New South Wales Interconnector West project, saying many are unhappy with the project.
The Victorian Government has confirmed the Australian Energy Market Operator can progress the project which it says will better connect the state’s energy grid with New South Wales.
The operator is continuing its consultations to refine the route, but its preferred option is a terminal station at Bulgana north of Stawell, linking to a terminal station near Kerang then crossing the Murray.
VNI West is a proposed new 500 kV double circuit transmission line connecting the high voltage electricity grids in New South Wales and Victoria.
