A farming lobby group’s calling for the Victorian government to launch a public inquiry in to the condition of regional roads.
Emma Germano from the Victorian Farmers Federation says many roads in Sunraysia remain damaged following floods, but others are crumbling from lack of maintenance.
Mildura MP Jade Benham has also raised the state of the roads in her electorate, saying not having the correct investment in road maintenance will cost lives.
She invited Shadow Roads Minister Danny O’Brien to inspect the damaged roads in Wycheproof saying there are desprately overdue repairs needed on the Wycheproof to Boort Road.
“Regional Victoria’s crumbling roads will only decay, with funding cut from $702.2 million to just $441.6 million in the last year alone,” Ms Benham says.
