As the almond pollination season draws to a close in Sunraysia, bee keepers are being reminded it’s crucial for them to follow the mandatory permit system for entry of bees, hives and other equipment.
It follows the detection of Varroa Mite in Euston last week, although Agriculture Victoria says the pest has NOT been found in Victoria at this stage.
It says all applications for queen bees from all states except New South Wales be assessed, but queens, escorts and queen cells from NSW will NOT be granted permits at this stage.
