Another milestone for electricity project

Work on one of the biggest substations in the Southern Hemisphere for a massive electricity project has reached a milestone.

The first part of a phase-shifting transformer has arrived at Buronga substation.

It’s part of the EnergyConnect project, aimed at having energy shared between Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.

There’ll be a connection in Red Cliffs for a seven-hundred kilometre section from Wagga Wagga to the South Australian border.

Those behind the one-point-eight BILLION dollar project say the Buronga site will be one of the biggest substations in the Southern Hemisphere.
