A red alert’s been issued for blue-green algae for a section of the Darling River.
There are concerns of high levels of the potentially toxic algae in the river around 13-kilometres upstream of Pomona in the Wentworth Weir Pool.
Authorities have also issued an alert advisory for the Darling Anabranch at the Silver City Highway.

Water may appear green or discoloured, and give of a strong organic or musty smell.
Locals are being urged to avoid the water in those areas.
