Spring Airing of the Quilts
Sunraysia Patchwork Friends, Inc are preparing their quilts for the group’s biennial Spring Airing of the Quilts to be held at Henderson College, Cowra Avenue on Sunday, September 22nd.
The tradition of a spring airing harks back to days long past where the quilts used by families for winter warmth were cleaned and aired outdoors ahead of storage over the summer months. As this tradition became more popular community members would stroll the streets admiring the handiwork of the makers, stopping to chat and building social connections.
Sunraysia Patchwork Friends continues this tradition through their biennial airing event and welcomes the opportunity to bring the community out into the open air, share a Devonshire tea and stroll among the quilts on display.
