Psyche Bend Pumps Running Day
On Easter Sunday April the 20th, the historic Psyche Bend Pumps in Nichols Point will once again be running on steam, just as they ran back in 1891 when first installed by George Chaffey.
Its “Power Sports” time in Mildura and there will be plenty of other magnificent machines to see, but none demonstrate the effortless 1000 horsepower of this historic machine.
The boiler will be fired up about 7:00AM, burning 200 litres of oil per hour, with the pumps springing into life about 11:00AM, running through to 3:30PM.
The dedicated volunteers of the Sunraysia Steam Preservation Society will be happy to show you around, explain the secrets of steam power, and answer any questions you might have.
Admittance is $5.00 per Adult, $3.00 per Child, with a family ticket $15.00 for 2 Adult and unlimited Children. EFTPOS facilities available.
As a preview, just to whet the appetite, they will also be demonstrating a “small” (about the size of a car!) portable steam engine at the Good Friday Show and Shine in the City.
