Everything Vanilla Slice was celebrated over the weekend at the Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph in Merbein.
The country’s best professional slice was handed to North End Bakehouse in Shepparton, with last year’s winners Sharp’s Bakery, Birchip coming in second.
Thousands turned out for the day, also celebrating the people’s choice award, which went to Sunraysia Bread and Butter Bakery.
This year’s Mallee Almond Blossom Festival has also been declared a success.
It was held in Robinvale yesterday, with many people trying to get in before the gates opened.
Bus trips to orchards to walk among the blossoms were still a major attraction with bookings filling quickly.
Swan Hill Rural City Council says the 14th Mallee Almond Blossom Festival is an economic boost for the town of Robinvale.
