Local MP says locals are paying the price for state debt

A local MP says new tax hikes that have come into effect will see families in the Mildura electorate paying the price.

Nationals Member Jade Benham says increases will add hundreds of dollars a year to the cost of everyday necessities such as energy, motoring costs and employment opportunities, including;

•        A 25 per cent increase in the Victorian Electricity Default Offer. 

•        A 7.7 per cent increase in electric vehicle road user charge.

•        A 42 per cent increase in employer WorkCover Premiums. 

Ms Benham said Mildura households were already the highest taxed in Australia as Victorian Government debt reaches record levels compared to other states.
