Bad Teeth: Diet Not Genes

If you're a frequent visitor to the dentist … you may think you inherited bad teeth from your parents.

But a new study of Australian twins shows you can't blame your genes for tooth decay.

Associate Professor Jeff Craig ... from the Murdoch Children's Research Institute says they have made some clear findings:

Summary
• Study looked at mouth bacteria of 485 sets of Australian twins
• Some mouth bacteria are inherited, but not the ones that cause tooth decay
• Confirms advice that condition of teeth depends upon diet and oral hygiene
