Fish have been released into lakes across the state including the north-west in time for the Victorian school holidays.
Tens of thousands of rainbow trout have been introduced, and Rainbow Lake and the waterway in Birchip are ready to host fishers are part of the holiday program.
The Victorian Fisheries Authority says the fish are advanced yearlings and are suitable to be caught immediately.

However, people are being reminded there’ll be a daily limit of five fish, and only two can be over 35cm long.
