First flush denied for Southern Basin

The Victorian Farmers Federation is shocked flood waters from the Northern basin hasn't been allowed to make it to the southern basin of the Murray-Darling basin and Menindee Lakes.

The lobby group says the rain is a first flush for the system and should've been protected.

It says it's alarmed Interin Inspector General of the basin MICK KEELTY's failed to react to the recent decisions by Queensland and NSW governments to allow the flood waters to be diverted for consumption.
