NSW man charged with armed robbery

A man has been charged with allegedly holding up two licensed premises while armed with a firearm in Sydney.

Police allege the man entered a bottle store at a licensed premises in Winston Hills, in Sydney's west, about 10.20pm on April 11 where he threatened staff and stole cash.

A week later, he allegedly threatened patrons with a firearm before stealing cash at a licensed premises in Waratah, about 10am on April 18.

The 32-year-old man was arrested on Saturday morning outside a hotel in the suburb of Castle Hill. Search warrants executed at a hotel room in Castle Hill and a home in Newcastle unearthed several items, including two firearms, $6000 in cash, and prohibited drugs.

The man has been charged with two counts of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, supplying a prohibited drug, and possessing a prohibited firearm. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
