A Sister’s Day Out will be held next week as part of Ochre Ribbon Week.
It’s an Aboriginal-led advocacy campaign, raising awareness of the impacts of family violence on Aboriginal women.
Communities from both sides of the Murray will support the Sisters Day Out, which is being held on Tuesday at the Midway Community Centre in Buronga.
There is also an Ochre Ribbon Community Gathering today, Friday 14 February 2025, 10:00am – 2:00 pm at Langtree Riverfront Connection, Mildura.
That event has been organised by Dhelk Dja Mallee Action Group with the First People of the Millewa Mallee, Kiilalaana Foundation, Mallee District Aboriginal Services, Mildura Rural City Council and other local services.
Ochre Ribbon Week is held from February 12 to 19 each year.
The campaign was launched in 2015 and symbolises the connection of Aboriginal people to the land and the strength of cultural unity in overcoming violence.
